Four Ways To Save Tons of Cash on TV!

We are turning our focus on saving money, and every week we're going to tackle a new way to save on things you’re already spending money on.

By taking action and doing some of the stuff we’re talking about here in this series, you can build your first emergency fund and pay down tons of debt.

The next tip we’re sharing is how to save hundreds of dollars on TV.

Premium cable and satellite packages are expensive. Some of the amounts I see on budget forms of people I coach are insane! I'm not surprised though, because when I had cable and satellite TV, I was paying upwards of $200 per month, and then I would sit and wonder why I was broke!

Today there are so many more options to consider. Gone are the days where you're stuck having to choose from just a few companies. Here are some quick ways to save tons of cash on TV!

1. Call your provider and ask for current discounts or reduce your entertainment package.

Sometimes all you have to do is ask! Many of the discount promotions are for new customers, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t eligible for other promotions. Provider plans change, and there may be a better plan that is now cheaper! Also, one of the best ways to save is by reducing your entertainment package to a lower tier. I know this means fewer TV channels, but it also means more money to save and pay off debt. It’s all about sacrifice.

2. Cut the cord!

In many cases, my Roots members cut the cord altogether and opt for other cheaper services to replace their cable and satellite TV package! I know it can be a scary thought at first, but once you learn what else is available out there, it’s not nearly as painful as you think.

3. Get FREE Channels with an HD Antenna.

Crazy enough, but did you know you can get your local HD network channels for FREE? Once you cut the cord, invest in a quality HD antenna. My family has the Leaf antenna. It isn’t the best antenna out there, but for $40 we get about 30 channels for FREE. Outdoor HD antennas are likely to pick up more channels with a further reach to capture the signals, so review your options and see what works best for you and your budget.

4. Netflix, Hulu, Sling TV, Amazon, YouTube TV, and Chill!

As I mentioned, gone are the days where we have limited options. In combination with an HD Antenna and one or two TV subscription services, you’ve got entertainment galore while saving yourself hundreds of dollars a year! This is like a no brainer.

Brad, if I cut my cord what about LIVE sports or what if I'm in a contract? You have options, and the best course out there to help you navigate through your decisions is Cable Cutting Academy, a course put together by my colleague Jeremy Edmonds. On average his course is helping people save $100 per month! It’s well worth the investment. Here is the link to Cable Cutting Academy.

With just a few simples changes and little education, you can save yourself tons of money, freeing up cash to save your first emergency fund and pay down your debts! Get started!
